STUDY: A drawing, sketch or painting done in preparation for a finished piece, or as visual notes. Studies are often used to understand the problems involved in rendering subjects and to plan the elements to be used in finished works, such as light, color, form, perspective and composition.

In conjunction with his solo exhibition, Pierced by Dogma, at the Ulrich Museum of Art, Patrick Duegaw presents this exhibition of related study drawings. These studies illustrate the process involved in the making of his large-scale painting series The Innumerable Anxieties, and range from immediate concept sketches from his sketchbooks, to more detailed and refined drawings on paper.
Also featured are drawings made while working on two paintings in progress, that will be featured in a future portrait exhibition.
This is Duegaw's first large-scale Fisch Haus show in a decade.
